The public is invited to watch outstanding student-produced video stories, free of charge, at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, during PBS Hawaii’s Hiki No Festival at Waiakea High School.

Waiakea High will be one of three Hawaii Island schools to be showcased in the first-ever festival, which also will take place on Kauai, Lanai, Maui and Oahu. The festival honors student-produced video stories nominated in this year’s awards, and aired last school year on the PBS Hawaii student news program.

Konawaena High School in Kona and Hawaii Preparatory Academy in Waimea also will host Hiki No Festival events Aug. 28. HPA and Konawaena are the other two Hawaii Island schools nominated for awards.

The winners of the Hiki No Awards will be announced via live stream Wednesday, Sept. 17, at PBSHawaii.org.
